It is important for me that there are visible references to real things in my painting even if they themselves do not depict a definite reality. Hence there are references to historical events and hints at social comment and contemporary issues; straight forward studies from the everyday and a mix of imaginary and remembered landscape.

Each of these is a response to what has happened or is happening and is linked on a subconscious level to the need to react to an impulse.
